English
Welcome to In de Taal,
As a meticulous and inquisitive translator and text editor, I enjoy working out language puzzles. From writing, cutting, and polishing, to searching for that one perfect word or expression to make sure the original text is carefully reflected, yet genuinely tailored to the intended reader. With the right tone and the right words.
I gladly apply this skill for translating texts from French and English into Dutch, as well as for checking, correcting, and editing Dutch texts.
Alongside general, business, and commercial texts, I enjoy translating and editing texts within one of my areas of specialization:

Agricultural and ‘Green’ Translations
Driven by my background, experience, environment, and passion, I am well-versed in agricultural terminology. I thoroughly enjoy diving into a wide range of topics within the ‘green sector’, with a particular focus on the ongoing transition toward sustainability.

Medical and Paramedical Translations
| Thanks to my experience as an educational psychologist and my studies in medical terminology, I am well-acquainted with the language used in healthcare, education, and social services. I know how to tailor this terminology to different target audiences, including healthcare professionals, teachers, parents, children, and young adults. |

Book Translations
I enjoy translating both fiction and non-fiction/informative books for children, young adults, and adults. With my years of experience as an educational psychologist, I know how to find the right tone and words. I naturally empathize with the intended readers and translate in a language that truly resonates with them.
About me
In de Taal
As a child, the maximum number of library books you were allowed to borrow was never enough for me, and to this day, I still love losing myself in a good book. To step into someone else’s shoes, into their mind, into another world, or another time.
As an educational psychologist, I spent years helping children with dyslexia improve their reading and spelling skills and helping them rediscover the joy of reading and writing stories.
I find it fascinating to study the rules governing different languages and how they can approach elements like articles, conjugations, and derivations in such completely different ways.
In short: language is where I truly feel at home.
In 2018, I decided to channel my passion for language into a degree in translation at the ITV Hogeschool for Interpreting and Translation. Today, I thoroughly enjoy crafting high-quality translations that read like original texts, as well as reviewing and editing Dutch texts to ensure they perfectly resonate with the intended reader. With the right tone and the right words.
